Tesco Cauliflowers from Poland travelled 1,200 miles

Ian had to do a double take when one eagle eyed bulletin reader sent him a photograph of a Tesco Cauliflower, harvested by hand as one of your 5 a day coming from Poland during one of the UK’s peak production months.
That humble cauliflower had travelled a minimum of 1,200 miles to a Tesco store in Lincolnshire.
Is it the local cauliflower growers who don’t talk to Tesco or is it the mighty Tesco buying as cheap as possible and failing to support our local growers and doing nothing for Tesco’s Corporate and social responsibility?
