Long Clawson Cheesemakers get heavy with their suppliers over contacting Potter

Posted on: 31/05/22

Contacting Ian Potter with milk price information is “a breach of confidentiality and trust” according to the Board of Directors & Executive Board of Clawson Dairy (Stilton makers)

Up until its recent letter to its farmers Ian can confirm there were two Clawson suppliers who contacted him.  On receipt of the letter that number has increased.

The Clawson letter confirms its policy not to publish their monthly farmgate milk price – I wonder why.

Rather amusingly Clawson have stated “we have had names put forward to us which we are investigating“ and that talking to Potter is “a breach of clause 3.7.1 in our milk contract and is not acceptable”.

The letter goes to great lengths to frighten, one suggested, intimidate producers and concludes that such breaches will result in termination of contracts.

Given one of our contacts claims 10 Clawson farmers have registered to join Arla it might be a good idea for Clawson’s Board to take some professional PR and communications advice.

Going forward this bulletin relishes a challenge and intends to feature Clawson milk price movements and under no circumstances will IPMS reveal their sources so please send us any useful information.

Email, telephone or snail mail are all acceptable methods for sending top secret information.
