Mona Dairy is making a remarkable impression this week by unveiling its groundbreaking plans: introducing the UK's first BEV (Battery Electric Vehicle) tractor and trailer for milk transportation. Their unwavering commitment lies in significantly reducing the carbon footprint of their operations by transitioning to electric vehicles for milk collection, thereby propelling them towards the attainment of a net-zero status.
“We are proud to have been the first dairy in the UK to introduce the Volvo BEV HGV tractor and trailer combination, it’s the first step towards the complete decarbonisation of our transport,” shared Managing Director Ronald Akkerman
The truck boasts an impressive range of 190 miles (300 km), propelled by three electric motors generating 666 HP. Its six batteries collectively hold 540 kWh of energy, underlining the dairy's earnest pursuit of sustainable innovation.
