Connecting consumers with food grown in the UK – Milly Fyfe ®ARAgS

I’m a Mum of two young children, a farmer, a grower and I’m passionate
about flying the flag for British Food and Farming. I recently set up a
community interest company called No Fuss Meals for Busy Parents CIC
to showcase why more people should Buy British and shop locally.
For the last three years I have been building up a community online to
help consumers understand better what is grown, reared or produced in
the UK and provide tasty recipe ideas and seasonal ingredient suggestions
so they can enjoy cooking from scratch.
For the vast majority of our customers, they have lost the direct connection between farmers and food products; food is a commodity and available at our convenience. You only need to download an app on your phone and food can be delivered to your doorstep, ready made to consume straight away.
But with the huge strain on the NHS and frightening levels of obesity levels recorded in children by Public Health England, what more can be done to change the mindset of our nation to come away from the reliance of ultra processed food?
A whole generation have not had the opportunity to take part in home economics at school; a real life skill to be able to prepare and cook a meal from scratch. It is no longer a priority area in schools, and with both parents generally working to make ends meet, its easy to see how we’ve got to where we are.
So using my digital marketing skills and journalistic flair I’ve been creating content on social media, on a podcast and on a blog, providing mealtime inspiration for anyone who comes across No Fuss Meals for Busy Parents.
The content falls into three key areas; recipe ideas, seasonal ingredients and a meet the producer section where I interview farmers about what they grow, rear or produce, how they’ve grown the business, where people can buy what they’ve produced and how they can follow them on social media or find more information.
The recipe ideas are generally ‘No Fuss’ meaning they are quick to prepare or use honest, in season, whole ingredients and showcase the provenance too.
You can find the website by clicking: https://www.nofussmealsforbusyparents.com/

I’m now on the hunt for new producers to feature as well as corporate sponsorship to help fund the work of the CIC. So please do get in touch by emailing me: hello@millyfyfe.com
