1.02ppl milk price reduction for Barber’s (cheese) from April
Posted on: 03/03/25
The reduction results in a standard liquid litre price of 45.08ppl
In their March Newsletter Barbers announced,
“For the first time in 18 months, we need to declare a decrease in our milk price of -1ppl at Barber’s Standard Litre”.
“When we met at our farmer meetings here at site back in December, at that time, the dairy markets were
in disarray and UK milk supply was breaking records on a daily basis. From that juncture, it looked as if milk price reductions might apply rather soon into the New Year. Fortunately, that concern was averted as dairy markets improved, and milk supplies across the EU began to falter”.
“However, as a consequence of:
1) Cheddar market returns coming under greater pressure, and
2) Competition by national and regional cheese processors who have been paying considerably less
for their milk for many months, providing them with a considerable competitive edge in some of
our markets.
In conclusion, these factors required that we have needed to make a measured adjustment in our milk price from April”.
