Note, all standard litre prices are those quoted by www.milkprices.com and are based on the following:
The liquid standard litre 4% bf, 3.3% protein, 30,000/ml Bactoscans, 200,000/ml SCC, 1 million litres a year on EODC but before seasonality, monthly profile payments, balancing, B price additions, capital retentions or annual incentive schemes. The manufacturing standard litre is to exactly the same specification with the exception of 4.2%bf and 3.4% protein.

A disappointing 49.5ppl stand on November milk price from Saputo (AKA Dairy Crest Davidstow/Cheese)

The announcement of a hold at 49.5ppl based on a manufacturing standard litre and 47.72ppl on a liquid standard litre has been described disappointing by its producer organisation DCD. Its certainly far from a leading price for what remains the UK’s No 1 cheddar cheese. The new chairman and board of DCD will likely have to push very hard for a 1st December increase having reluctantly agreed to a November stand on.

0.71ppl milk price increase for suppliers to Wensleydale Creamery (cheese) – from 1st September

This increases producers manufacturing standard litre to 50.52ppl and based on a liquid standard litre to 48.84ppl including the member premium addition.

The Market – increases across the piste in September.

Butter, SMP, Mild Cheddar & Cream prices in September all increased significantly between 2% to 4% according to AHDB.  In addition, both AMPE & MCVE increased with AMPE + 1.81ppl in the month from 51.32p (Aug) to 53.13p (Sept) – see table at the top of this bulletin. MCVE +1.86 ppl in the month from 52.06p (Aug) to 53.92 (Sept) Spot milk is trading in a range of 55 to 58ppl Meanwhile according to the latest halfway point forecast from AHDB Dairy GB milk production is predicted to hit 12.

0.9ppl milk price increase for farmers supplying Wyke Farms (cheese) – from 1st November

This increases producers manufacturing standard litre to 50.12ppl and based on a liquid standard litre to 48.4ppl.  The increase comes in two parts with 0.4ppl via constituents and a further 0.5ppl addition to the Wyke Farm Quality Standards.

1 euro cent/kg (0.56ppl) milk price increase for Arla members – from 1st October

This increase applies to Arla conventional members with its Organic price standing on at 55.69ppl a difference of only 4.78ppl.  The increase would have been 0.88ppl were it not for the exchange rate quarterly adjustment which has negatively impacted to the tune of 0.33ppl on both Conventional and Organic members. GDT up a further 2% to average US $4072 tonne.

Todays GDT saw average prices increase for the second consecutive prices increase for the second consecutive auction.  The total tonnage sold totalled 26,106 (27,217) with the total number of bidders 169 (174) winning bidders 113 (112)   Notable movements were                   WMP up 3.7% to average US $3733 tonne.                 Cheddar up 2.1% to average US $5147 tonne.
