Note, all standard litre prices are those quoted by www.milkprices.com and are based on the following:
The liquid standard litre 4% bf, 3.3% protein, 30,000/ml Bactoscans, 200,000/ml SCC, 1 million litres a year on EODC but before seasonality, monthly profile payments, balancing, B price additions, capital retentions or annual incentive schemes. The manufacturing standard litre is to exactly the same specification with the exception of 4.2%bf and 3.4% protein.

Rodda’s record another good year end financials but costs are a huge challenge

Roddas (Cornwall Clotted Cream) have reported a good set of financials for its 2021/22-year end.   Turnover was up 9% to £41.3 million however pre tax profit was down 18% to £1.8 million with  operating margin down from 5.7% to 4.4% due mainly to increases in the cost of energy and packing. Rodda’s collect and process around 56 million litres of milk from 45 Cornish suppliers and this month’s standard litre price will be 48.

Hurry Livestock Tag Prices at the old price until 30th September

Middle Ground liquid processors Lanchester Dairies rarely disappoint its farmer suppliers when it comes to controversy and disappointment as witnessed over several years in this websites postings. Its farmers have been very quick to contact Ian with the announcement that the current liquid standard litre price of 49ppl will drop to 48ppl from October 1st. It comes at a time when several liquid processors are now talking about the possibility of marginal increases potentially in the pipeline to get some closer to the magical 50ppl.

Sainsburys farmers are once again the poor relations

It beggars belief how the Sainsburys PR team manage to hit a bulls eye with such regularity and accuracy when it comes to basically p-ss-ng its aligned farmers off. This time they have announced that their cost of production model has jumped by almost 2ppl from 42.48ppl to 44.27ppl yet they are holding the farmgate price at 47ppl for October. Sainsbury's farmers have been very quick to hit their keyboards and contact Ian with the majority of their comments unprintable and extremely uncomplimentary.

GDT average up 4.9% as Chinese demand was eclipsed by South East Asia for the first time

Tuesdays GDT saw the first real increase in prices in the past 13 auctions since prices topped out back in March of this year. According to Fonterra their biggest GDT customer is always China however for the first time the largest tonnage went to South East Asia.   Note for comparative purposes all figures in brackets are for the previous auction on the 16th august.
