Stand on for Arla direct Organic producers from 1st August

This leaves their liquid standard litre price at 49.67ppl

1.25ppl milk price increase for suppliers to Saputo (AKA Dairy Crest Davidstow) from 1st August

This increases producers manufacturing standard litre to 48ppl and based on a liquid standard litre 46.28ppl.

1.75ppl milk price increase for suppliers to South Caernarfon Creameries (cheese) from 1st August

This increases producers manufacturing standard litre to 48ppl and based on a liquid standard litre to 46.35ppl

1.66ppl (2 euro cents) milk price increase for Arla conventional members – from 1st July

There will be several milk processors questioning when Arlas farmgate milk price increases will level out knowing that in order to retain producers they have to keep up with Arla. This latest increase results in a manufacturing standard litre price of 49.45ppl and a liquid standard litre price of 47.56ppl and its worth reemphasising this is a 1st July price.

Aylesbury grinds to a halt with some farmers asked to dispose of their milk

Yesterday and into the early hours of this morning Arlas flagship Aylesbury plant ground to a halt due to IT glitches. Problems started on Sunday evening and by yesterday late afternoon around 30 farmers were telephoned by Arla to dump milk due for collection on Monday evening/Tuesday early morning. All milk will be paid for at the full price as if it had been delivered.

0.75ppl (1 euro cent) milk price increase for Arla organic members – from 1st July

With the exception of OMSCo there will be organic milk processors asking the same question as to when Arlas organic farmgate price will level off. Manufacturing 55.11 Liquid 53.01

Waitrose to switch processors from Arla to Muller

From 1st May 2023 Waitrose will switch the processing and packing of its Duchy Organic milk from Arla to Muller. As a result, Arla has served 12 months notice on some of the Waitrose Organic suppliers who will either be taken on a Bossman free transfer to Muller from May 2023 or alternatively will have to find a new milk buyer from 1st July 2023 (when the 12 months’ notice period expires).

45p 1st July price and the Aspiration to pay 50p by 1st September by Freshways

Back in early May Freshways announced a 1st July minimum farmgate milk price of 44ppl and a target of 45ppl. The 45ppl is now confirmed and clearly from the emails Ian has received several Freshways suppliers feel short changed given virtually all liquid processors are paying between 46 to 47ppl from July 1st with Arla yet to declare. Freshways have now announced a 1st September target of 50ppl.

GDT Auction average down 1.3%

Today’s auction saw the average price reduce 1.3% to average US $4600 tonne with the main casualty cheddar down a whopping 9.0%. There were 149 participating bidders with 103 successful who traded 20,760 tonnes Notable movements were Butter up 2.4% to average $6213 SMP up 1.0% to average $4276 WMP down 0.6% to average $4125 Cheddar down 9.

46ppl July Milk Price announcement by Tesco

The two retail giants have announced within hours of each other a 46ppl July farmgate price which many will suspect that both are following the Muller direct price.

46ppl July Milk Price announcement by Sainsburys

Sainsburys have announced a 46ppl milk price from the 1st July which coincidently matches the Muller direct milk price. The price will be reviewed by Sainsburys monthly. Inevitably all eyes now turn to Tesco who will be next to move.

This increases producers liquid standard litre price to 45.25ppl and based on a manufacturing standard litre to 46.52pp.
