Note, all standard litre prices are those quoted by www.milkprices.com and are based on the following:
The liquid standard litre 4% bf, 3.3% protein, 30,000/ml Bactoscans, 200,000/ml SCC, 1 million litres a year on EODC but before seasonality, monthly profile payments, balancing, B price additions, capital retentions or annual incentive schemes. The manufacturing standard litre is to exactly the same specification with the exception of 4.2%bf and 3.4% protein.

GDT continues to break records with a 5.1% average rise

Tuesdays GDT Auction clocked up a 5.1% increase on the results achieved only two weeks ago which in itself was up 4.2%. The auction average was US $5065 tonne which sets a GDT all-time record which previously stood at $5042 tonne set in February 2014. Averages for both cheddar and butter were both all-time highs smashing the previous records set only two weeks ago.

The Market including fertilizer & fuel

The StoneXMilkprices.com UKMFE (UK Milk Price Equivalent) gives the industry the trades forward view of dairy prices for the next 15 months.  It shows the February Nett UKMFE return to a producer was 40.07ppl and the low point is January 2023 at 42.66ppl. Globally milk production is tight and with confirmed reports today of Red Diesel at £1.10 litre plus and compound fertiliser over £1000 tonne the question is will milk supply increase or will it simply continue to decrease.

The average paid out milk price in January stands at 35.46ppl

This is the latest DEFRA figure (not a standard litre figure) and was paid out in a month when UK production was down 1.7% compared to January 2021.  On a weekly basis GB deliveries in February are down 2.3% to 2.9% compared to the same week a year ago.

Aligned farmers keen to exit Co-op, Sainsburys and Tesco contracts

The number of farmers keen to exit their retailer aligned contract is escalating and this week its Muller Co-op farmers who are furious that their liquid standard litre price for March remains stubbornly stuck at 33.91ppl and is now possibly the lowest March UK farmgate milk price.  In close proximity to the Co-op comes Tesco at 34.18ppl and Sainsburys at 33.

1ppl milk price increase for OMSCO A litres compared to 31.25ppl paid in April 2021 outrages some producers

In a letter to producers this week the chairman of OMSCO has declared a 1ppl 1st April standard litre price increase to 32.25ppl compared to that paid 1 year ago and the 32.25ppl price is down for 3 months April to June 2022 inclusive. The grid then declares the monthly budgeted farmgate prices to March 2023 to give a budgeted total paid out price including a budgeted 13th payment of 0.

1ppl milk price increase for First Milk members - from 1st April

This comprises of two elements 0.5ppl in the milk price plus an additional 0.5ppl payable to members who have completed their regenerative farming plan. The increase takes members manufacturing standard litre price to 35.75ppl and based on a liquid standard litre to 34.59ppl.  For members of the First Milk Tesco Cheese Group their price increases 37.25ppl. Note all quoted prices include a 13th payment of 0.
